Tim Fisher combines plies into rope as he walks the 785-foot-long rope walk at Troyer's Rope in Conneautville, Pa. By the time the employee gets to this end of the rope walk, he has to jog to keep up with the increasing tension on the rope as it is being twisted by a machine at this end of the walk. A counter-balanced cart on a rail at the opposite end maintains tension on the plies as they are twisted into rope.
